I used acrylic model paints, specifically made by CITADEL MINIATURES. if you have ever heard of that company, they make like fantasy models and war games etc, I have always used their paints ever since young when I used to collect that stuff
Thank you, man they are so old now, wait till you see the new 4 I have just done, they really have individual character. Just adding final touches now. I tend to upload alot more to FB if you are interested. [link]
I would prefer devi more over fb, it just seems that nowadays thats where most the folks are, its a good place to market to people who are not artists, as most people here are essentially artists, if that makes sense.
I will at some point score a Mad L to customize. I think I want to score a PAW or Tequila first though. I love those two platforms! Since they are already a well defined character, any customization on them would make them that much better. One day I will spend the dough for them...if I can find em that is
whats a paw? whats a tequila. To be honest, I do kinda like the toy scene, but Im not that into it, Im more into the customising part and what other people like me an you do to them, every one I have ever bought I generally thought was tak and boring so re did them. There for my general knowledge is a little limited as i tend to now focus on the DIY toys and what customisers make. What do you think of pre made 'ART' toys?
I have just seen some of these guys customized and really like how a few of them came out by some artists. Paws are really hard to find I think and they are quite expensive. Just a couple customs I would like to give a wack at
By pre-made art toys, are you talking about production pieces?
ah i have seen those before but the names escaped me. Yeh they would be rad to customise, but depends a lil on your style of work. I tend to and like to sculpt alot onto my creatures, i feel doing so on either of them would ruin it, so you're kinda stuck on base paint I epos.
yes production pieces, like the dunnys, madL's whatever it may be, basically ones you can by that were once designed by an artist and then re produced by a machine, as appose to 100% pure artist custom.
Yeah, I think some of the previous stuff could get lost if you are heavy with the sculpting...I still want to give them a go lol. Been wanting to jump onto other platforms lately just to try something new. I suppose Dunnys will satisfy for the time being...working with little 3 inchers is definitely a challenge.
As far as how I feel about production pieces...I think that if you get to a certain point of street cred it would be pretty dope to have the opportunity for a mass market to have something you have designed. Obviously you do all the work at the beginning...designing, sculpting and painting by hand so the effort is beyond a challenge and struggle towards the start of an art career path. But a cool payoff, feeling is to have a bigger company ask you to design a concept for said platform to be mass produced...I'd probably jump on that as soon as I could. If I had a production Dunny and was able to give that to my kids one day or even grand kids at some point and say, "I Designed this toy!"...I think they would light up with excitement for a little while.
I'm not saying that is your Master pieces or whatever but it kind of holds a legacy in a way. At one point in time, your design was the shit...enough of a badass for a company to ask for your work on a whole line up...X amount sold around the globe. Yup, I'm all in for the big game! Even if I have make my own production line some day
I guess that kinda makes sense, but what about as a collector, do you collect these things? ok I can see more of an appeal with the 'paw' or the 'tequila' as they are already really well defined characters and look awesome. But referring more to the dunnys and art toys like that.
